Outrace Epilepsy!
Outrace Epilepsy, formerly known as Race the River, is an annual fundraising race held at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo in Cleveland, Ohio. The event includes a mix of timed races and a fun run and supports free services for people with epilepsy while raising public awareness about the condition. The organizers note the 2027 edition is the 15th annual event and is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, August 15, 2027.
Participants often form teams and collect donations in honor of a loved one with epilepsy. Registration for the event includes event swag, water on and off the course, and free admission to the zoo after the event. Medals are presented to top finishers overall and by age and gender, and the top fundraising team receives recognition and an award. Past results show strong community participation: the 2026 event reported 870 participants and $54,000 raised.
