Event Overview
The Race for the Roses is a running event on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The event takes place at Queeny Park, Smith Pavilion, located at 550 Weidman Road in Ballwin, Missouri. The event includes a timed 5K run and an untimed 1K family walk.
Race Details
All proceeds from the event go to the Shriners Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. The event is held in tribute to Kentucky Derby Week. The Shriners Moolah Clowns will be present, providing entertainment and making balloon animals.
A "Best Kentucky Derby Themed Hat" contest will be held. Participants must register for the contest at a designated table before the race or within 10 minutes after the start time. The winner will receive gift certificates to local businesses and several red roses.

Registration fees are listed for each event type.
- 5K Run: A timed run where registrants receive a free race shirt. A special rate is available for children aged 12 and under.
- 1K Family Walk: An untimed walk designed for families with children. Registration does not include a shirt, but one can be purchased during sign-up. A family discount is available for groups.
Awards & Recognition
Overall awards include a dozen roses and a plaque for the top male and female finishers. Plaques are also awarded to second and third place overall finishers. The top male and female finisher in each age group (19 & under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over) will receive a medal. Race photos and winner photos will be posted on the organizing Kiwanis Club's websites and Facebook pages, and an article will be sent to local news organizations.

Race packets can be picked up on Friday, April 24, at Fleet Feet Chesterfield from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
