Event Overview

The Race for Remembrance is a 9/11 Tribute Run. The event begins at the Shanksville Flight 93 Memorial with a reading honoring the 40 fallen. Participants then run to Washington, D.C., finishing at the Lincoln Memorial. The total distance is 170 miles covered over two days.

Daily Route Breakdown

The first day covers 90 miles through 13 legs, running through the hills of Pennsylvania. The overnight stop is in Hagerstown, Maryland.

The second day covers 80 miles through 12 legs, which includes 29 miles on trails. The route passes through Harpers Ferry and Virginia before the finish at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday evening.

Registration Details

An individual registration includes two nights of shared hotel accommodation, with an option for a single room at extra cost. It also covers van transportation from Alexandria, VA and Virginia Beach, VA to the start in Shanksville on September 4. These vans monitor runners and provide shuttles during the event, with a return van to Virginia Beach available after the finish. Participants receive a dry fit shirt. Water and snacks are provided, but runners are responsible for their own meals. A running vest is required for any running at twilight or at night.
