Run for Recovery 5k Run/Walk
The Run for Recovery 5k Run/Walk is an annual timed event held at the Nankin Mills Recreation Area in Hines Park, Westland. The race takes place on a flat and fast course through the park surroundings. This event marks the fifth edition of the run and walk, which is open to participants of all fitness levels. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers.
All participants receive a finisher medal after completing the course. Those who register by April 12 are also provided with a commemorative T-shirt. Refreshments are available at both the start and finish lines. While advance registration is available, participants can also register on the day of the event.
Proceeds from the race support the Help a Sister Out program. This initiative provides financial assistance to women in 12-step recovery programs by covering half of the registration fees for the Women in Motion retreat. The event aims to remove financial barriers for women during their recovery journey and strengthen the local community.
