5k Race for Plates in Whitby
5k Race for Plates takes place on August 1, 2026 at Kiwanis Heydenshore Park, 589 Water St, Whitby, ON, Canada. The event is a 5 km run along the Whitby Heydenshore waterfront trail and is described as scenic, fast, and flat.
Timing is provided by Speed River Timing. Race photos are included at no extra cost and finishers receive a medal. Race kits and bibs must be picked up before lining up at the start. Free parking is available at the venue.
Participants are asked to bring non perishable food items to support local food banks. The 2025 food collection amounted to the equivalent of 567 meals. Donations also help keep entry fees affordable. The event proceeds rain or shine and will only be canceled in extreme conditions.
Prize support includes gift cards of 100, 50 and 25 dollars for male and female podium finishers, provided through a partnership with Sunset Grill. A children's category for ages 12 and under debuts, with prizes for winners, and a 30 percent discount is offered for that age group.
