Race for Life Derby : Markeaton Park

Race for Life Derby takes place at Markeaton Park in Derby (DE22 4AA) and offers organised 5k and 10k running options managed by Cancer Research UK. The event is chip-timed and the 10k course is a double lap of the 5k course.

The start and finish are on the large grass field in the centre of the park, a short walk from the café and tennis courts. The route uses a mixture of terrains: grass fields, woodland paths and main park paths. Tarmac paths surround the event site. The course includes an up and down hill section of around 100 m and a gravel section of roughly 80 m. In wet weather grassed areas may become soft or muddy and adjustments may be made where possible.

Facilities listed for the event include refreshments, toilets and parking. Blue badge parking is available at Markeaton Park car park and the Mundy Play Centre car park; general event parking is at Mundy Play Centre and the University of Derby Kedleston Road car park, with about a 10 minute walk to the site. There are no bike racks on site and no electric vehicle charging points at the event. The event is wheelchair accessible with assistance, and some areas may require help due to uneven or soft surfaces.
