The route is a single lap that begins with a loop of the lake inside Delamere Forest and continues on scenic forest paths and local countryside. Surfaces include undulating gravel tracks and woodland paths, with a few inclines and a final climb to the top of Old Pale Hill before descending back to the event site next to the visitor centre and café. In poor weather, woodland paths may become muddy. An alternative route can bypass some inclines but may shorten the course. The start and finish areas are on mostly flat hardstanding with shale underfoot.
Practical details noted for attendees include main forest car park parking next to the visitor centre, a discounted parking rate of £6 on the day with QR codes on site, free parking for members, Delamere Train Station approximately 300 m from the event site, and Blue Badge parking about 100 m away. There are limited bike racks, no bus service to the site, and no electric vehicle charging. Facilities listed include refreshments, toilets, and dogs allowed. The event is not wheelchair accessible and is not suitable for pushchairs.
