The EdFed Race for Education at the Superintendent's 5K
The EdFed Race for Education at the Superintendent's 5K is an annual event hosted by the Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) Foundation. This 11th annual run and walk takes place at Maurice A. Ferre Park in Miami. The gathering serves as a family fun day that promotes health and wellness while supporting educational initiatives. Participants commonly include students, parents, teachers, and administrators from more than 200 local schools.
The event offers several participation options:
- Superintendent's 5K (Adult and Student categories)
- 1 Mile Kid's Run (Timed event for ages 7-12)
- Kid's Dash (For ages 2-9)
The 5K race proceeds are used to benefit participating schools within Miami-Dade County. According to previous records, the event has seen significant growth in participation, with over 7,000 runners and walkers appearing in 2025.
Participants who register as part of a school team have the option to use dedicated school team tents as a gathering point on race day. Awards are presented to the overall top male and female finishers, as well as specific age group categories. Registration fees for the various events follow a tiered pricing structure that increases as the event date approaches.
Individual participants can collect their race packets on the morning of the event at the park. The registration package typically includes a race shirt, medal, and bag. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
