About the race
The Race for Education at the Superintendent's 5K is a run/walk and family event organized by the Miami Dade County Public Schools Foundation at Maurice Ferre Park in Miami. The event brings together students, parents, guardians, teachers and school staff to promote health and wellness, and proceeds from 5K registrations benefit participating schools.
Distances included:
- 5K for adult and student categories
- 1 mile timed race for ages 7 to 12
- 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 600 m Kid's Dash by age group
The event has been held since 2008. In 2025, 242 schools and 7,069 runners and walkers took part, and participation has grown substantially over the past decade. Awards are given in overall male and female categories and by age group for the 5K. The field typically includes children and school teams representing multiple Miami Dade County Public Schools.
