Event Details
The Purple Up! 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run is held at Lake Okatibbee, starting at East Bank Park on 8604 Okatibbee Dam Road in Collinsville, Mississippi. It is the fourth annual event and occurs on Friday, April 17, 2026, during the Month of the Military Child. The event honors military children, with participants invited to wear purple as a symbol of support.
Event Format
Two events are offered:
- A 5K run/walk open to all participants.
- A shorter fun run for children aged 10 and under, which starts after the 5K.
The 5K course is a loop with water stations available. The event is not professionally timed; participants are encouraged to use a finish line clock.
Registration and Perks
Participants who register by March 31, 2026, will receive a race t-shirt. All registrants for both the 5K and Fun Run receive a medal. A packet pick-up and race-day registration period is scheduled.
Awards and Rules
Awards will be given for the fastest overall male and female finishers, as well as top finishers in specific age and demographic groups. These groups include middle school students, high school students, various adult age categories, and West Lauderdale School faculty members.
Rules prohibit alcohol use on the premises. Pets are not allowed to participate, and spectator pets must be leashed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
