48th Annual Pumpkin Run - Half Moon Bay
The Pumpkin Run is presented by Senior Coastsiders and takes place at Hatch Elementary School in Half Moon Bay, California. The event is a long-standing community tradition held for over four decades and raises funds for Senior Coastsiders, a local nonprofit.
Distances offered:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
- Kids' Fun Run/Walk
- Virtual Run/Walk
The half marathon route uses the Wavescrest Coastal Trail and portions of the course run alongside the Pacific Ocean. The start and finish are located in the Hatch Elementary School parking lot. The half marathon has a 3.5 hour time limit.
Virtual participants may complete events within the virtual event period and can combine distances in bundled options such as the Pumpkin Run Trifecta and Double Trouble. Virtual finish times can be uploaded via the ASICS Runkeeper app or other run-tracking apps and participants can obtain a printable finisher certificate. Virtual events must be completed by October 17, 2026; registrations after October 4, 2026 may not receive mailed packets before that date.
All proceeds benefit Senior Coastsiders, whose programs include daily lunch, classes and lectures, Meals on Wheels, and home rehabilitation services. Pets and emotional support animals are not permitted on the course or in event areas; service animals defined by California law are allowed and must remain leashed and under handler control. Professional race photographs are taken and made available for download after the event. Parking at Hatch Elementary is not available; paid parking options are provided nearby and organizers recommend allowing extra time to park and reach the start line. A Sponsor a Mile fundraising option is available, with eligibility for mile-marker dedications for early donors. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
