Event Overview
The Provo City Half Marathon is an annual running event held in Provo, Utah. The event offers multiple distances to accommodate different participants, including a half marathon, a 5K, and a kids marathon. The half marathon course is USATF certified and is recognized for its downhill trajectory through Provo Canyon, ending at the original downtown finish line.

Course Details
The Half Marathon begins at South Fork Park in Provo Canyon and finishes in downtown Provo at the intersection of University Avenue and Center Street. This course features a net elevation drop of approximately 900 feet. All half marathon participants are required to use the provided shuttle buses to reach the start line, as private drop-offs are not permitted.
The 5K course starts at 3470 N. University Avenue and shares the same downtown finish line as the longer race. It features a net elevation drop of approximately 100 feet.
Participant Information
The half marathon includes pacing groups to help runners maintain specific times. Aid stations providing water and refill options are positioned approximately every three miles along the half marathon route, with one station available on the 5K course. Portable toilets are located at the start and finish lines, as well as at three-mile intervals along the half marathon course.
The event utilizes timing chips attached directly to the runner bibs. Participants are permitted to use portable music devices and may run with strollers, provided they start at the back of the pack. The courses remain open until 11:00 am, after which police and volunteer support concludes.
Awards and Festivities
An awards ceremony for overall winners is held in the morning. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in the half marathon and the top male and female finishers in the 5K. All finishers in the marathon and half marathon distances receive custom medals. Age division awards are also provided across various categories ranging from under 11 to 75 and older.
