Event Overview

The Providence Rhode Races is a multisport event featuring various distances throughout Rhode Island's capital and surrounding communities. The event includes a full marathon, a half marathon, a 5k, and a 1k kids fun run. The marathon course is USATF-certified and serves as a Boston Marathon Qualifier.

Participants navigate through four different communities, passing through historic neighborhoods and tree-lined streets. The routes offer views of the riverfront, working waterfronts, and coastal areas.

Distance Options

  • Marathon: A 42.2 km course passing through historic neighborhoods, coastal areas, and the RI Country Club.
  • Half Marathon: A 21.1 km route featuring riverfront bike paths and the tree-lined Blackstone Boulevard.
  • 5k: A 5 km run starting at Bold Point Park and heading along the East Bay Bike Path.
  • Kids Fun Run: A 1k out and back course for participants under age 10.

Course details

All races start and finish at Bold Point Park in East Providence. The marathon and half marathon courses use the Linear Park bridge and India Point Park, following bike paths and roads. Pace groups are provided for the longer distances. Aid stations are situated along the routes, offering water, electrolyte drinks, energy gels, and bananas. Port-a-potties are located at every aid station.

The event has specific course completion time limits. The marathon has a 6-hour limit, the half marathon a 3.5-hour limit, and the 5k a 1-hour limit.

Participant Amenities

Registered athletes receive a race-specific tech t-shirt. Finisher medals are provided for those completing the marathon and half marathon, while children in the kids run receive a medallion. The event includes free photography for participants and live athlete tracking via a mobile app. A post-race festival at Bold Point Park features food, beverages, and a recovery zone with complimentary massage services.
