Pronghorn Pursuit Trail Run : Dillon, Montana
The Pronghorn Pursuit Trail Run is a set of off-pavement trail races held on the Beaverhead Trails Coalition High Trails near Dillon, Montana, starting from the West Trailhead. Distances offered include:
- 15K Trail Run: 90% single-track, 2400 feet climbing
- 5K Trail Run: similar technical mix with climbs over 500 feet
- Kid's 5K (ages 10 and under): 3.1 miles on trail terrain
- Fun Run/Walk 1 Mile: community fundraiser and family activity
The 15K course consists mostly of single-track with a mix of steep climbs and technical descents. The 5K uses the same landscape at a smaller scale and includes steeper sections and a final kilometer that descends. All courses remain off pavement and provide views of the Beaverhead River Valley and surrounding sagebrush hills.
Registration fees vary by event: 15K $45, 5K $35, Kid's 5K $25, Fun Run/Walk $5. Registration opens January 19, 2026; closing dates differ by event. T-shirts are not included with pre-registration but are available as an add-on; shirts paid for before May 20 will be available at the race, later purchases will be available for pickup or shipping.
Race day timing is provided by chip timing. Food and awards follow the races at the trailhead. Spectators pay $5; runners are admitted free. Early packet pick-up and late registration are scheduled the day before the races at the Patagonia Outlet. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
