Priest Lake Marathon
Priest Lake Marathon is a gravel running event held at Hill’s Resort on the west side of Priest Lake in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest. The event takes place on Saturday, September 18, 2027, and features courses that follow dirt forest roads and sections of lakeshore.
Distances offered
- 50 km ultramarathon with an additional 4.8 mile out-and-back loop
- 26.2 mi marathon
- 13.1 mi half marathon
- 10 km Lakeshore race
Course and terrain information is explicit: about 80% smooth dirt forest roads, under 10% rocky jeep-road sections where footing requires attention, and under 10% paved road open to traffic. The 50 km route lists 2100 feet of elevation gain and uses the marathon course plus the extra loop. Courses are heavily marked with signs and flagging.
Aid stations with water and sports drink are positioned roughly every 2 to 3 miles. Fifty kilometer runners may use two drop bags placed at designated locations; participants are responsible for labeling and retrieving their bags. Cutoff times are enforced and an official finish requires meeting those cutoffs.
Safety notes include the potential for sudden weather changes, the presence of moose and deer in the area, and sections open to traffic where runners should remain alert and use the shoulder. Pets are not permitted on any course. All finishers receive a custom finisher medal, a tech fabric shirt, and a finishers lunch with a beverage.
