Prickly Pine Jackpot 24 Hour Solo/Relay
The Prickly Pine Jackpot 24 Hour Solo/Relay is an ultrarunning event held May 1-2, 2027 in the Kettle Moraine State Forest near Dousman, Wisconsin. Race options include 6-hour, 12-hour, 12-hour relay, 24-hour solo, and 24-hour relay formats with published registration fees for each option.
Participants choose from three loop options and may run any loop on each circuit:
- Loop #1 - 3 miles
- Loop #2 - 6 miles
- Loop #3 - 9 miles
The course runs through pinewoods and sections of the Ice Age Trail, using loops on the Scuppernong Trails and including some of the higher elevations on the Kettle course. All races start and finish at the DJ Mackie Picnic Area.
For the 24-hour solo and relay events, 25 percent of each registration fee is added to a Jackpot. Solo payouts are distributed as 50% for first place, 30% for second, 10% for third, 5% for fourth, and 5% for fifth. The winning relay team receives the entire relay Jackpot; tied relays decide the winner with a final lap selected by each team. Solo standings count only fully completed loops; an unfinished loop at the cutoff time does not count. In the event of a tie among solos, prize money for tied positions is pooled and divided evenly.
Logistics: a Wisconsin State Forest parking pass is required for parking; a parking sticker can be purchased at the Ottawa Lake Park entrance at S59 W36530 County ZZ, Dousman, WI 53118. The first 30 registered 24-hour solo and relay entrants receive a reserved 12'x12' gear drop spot near the start and finish. A designated camping area near the start and finish is provided at no charge for 24-hour solo and relay participants.
Swag varies by race. Examples from the event: 6-hour participants receive a 24 oz easy squeeze sports bottle and finisher metal; 12-hour participants receive a 24 oz bottle, cooling towel, and finisher metal with a 50-mile belt buckle awarded to those who exceed 50 miles; 12-hour relay participants receive similar items; 24-hour participants receive a duffle bag, 24 oz bottle, cooling towel, and finisher metal, with a 50-mile belt buckle for those who exceed 50 miles.
