Event Overview
The Prairie Chaos Backyard Ultra is a running event held at Little Mountain Park in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The course consists of a 6.706 km trail loop within the park.
Course and Format
The event follows official Backyard Ultra rules. Participants must complete the loop within one hour. Each new loop starts precisely one hour after the last began. A runner is eliminated if they do not complete a loop within the hour or are not in the starting corral at the bell for the next loop. The event continues until only one runner remains. The trail features a mix of open prairie and shaded forest terrain.
Participant Information
Participants receive a race bib, a pair of socks, a Buff, and a "Did Not Finish" medal. The winner receives a distinctive prize. Each participant has a designated personal space by the start/finish line for their crew and equipment, which can be set up from 5:00 AM on race day.
An aid station provides water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and some warm food overnight. Participants are encouraged to bring their own preferred nutrition and hydration. Parking is available in a lot near the start on Farmer Road, with additional spots on Klimpke Road and along Farmer Road. Carpooling is recommended.
Facilities
An indoor lodge near the start/finish area has four flushing toilets, sinks, a water fountain, and a small sheltered space. It is accessible from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Portable toilets are also available near the start area. The course passes this lodge twice per loop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
