Prairie Chaos Backyard Ultra
Prairie Chaos Backyard Ultra is scheduled for August 15, 2026 in Little Mountain Park, Farmer Road, Winnipeg, MB. The course is a single trail loop of 6.7056 km that travels through open prairie and shaded forest, with roots, rocks, and some rolling terrain.
This event uses the official Backyard Ultra format. Each Yard is an hourly loop: competitors must complete the loop in less than one hour to earn the right to start the next Yard. Competitors must be in the starting corral at each bell and start with the field. Restroom breaks are the only permitted exception for leaving the course during a Yard. The rules specify no personal aid during a Yard, no artificial aids including trekking poles, and that slower runners must yield to passes.
Event logistics note that participants receive a bib, a race shirt, a Buff, and a Did Not Finish medal; the sole winner receives a distinctive prize. Each participant is assigned a personal space by the start and finish area for crew and gear. An aid station will provide water, an electrolyte drink, sweet and salty snacks, and some warm food overnight, though participants are advised to be self sufficient. Parking is available near the start area with about 40 spots plus additional parking off Klimpke Road and along Farmer Road. An indoor lodge with flushing toilets and sinks is located near the course and portable toilets will be staged close to the start and finish area.
