PPP3CA Race for Rare 5K Run/Walk
The 3rd Annual Race for Rare is a charity run and walk at Lake Shawnee Shelter House #3 in Topeka, Kansas. The event benefits the PPP3CA Hope Foundation, a parent led 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports research into PPP3CA rare disease. Proceeds are designated to fund research, advance collaboration, raise awareness, and support families affected by PPP3CA.
Participants can complete a 1 mile walk or a 5K run or walk. In-person Kansas registration is offered in two tiers: a Full Zebra Experience that includes a Race for Rare T shirt, swag bag, vendor access, and raffle eligibility, and a Basic Entry that includes registration, vendor access, and raffle eligibility. A virtual registration option is also available for remote supporters.
The site at Shelter House #3 provides air conditioning and restrooms, and parking is available nearby at the public playground. On-site amenities and activities include a pancake bar provided by Hazel Catering, a coffee truck for purchases, water stations provided by HTeaO Raymore, an on-site Kona Ice truck, free kids face painting by Aunt Nancy's Face Art, participation medals for children, event photography by C.Shinn Photography, balloon photo opportunities by Balloons By Cathryn KC, and a Finely Linked booth offering permanent jewelry. A silent auction will run alongside the event.
The race is untimed. Winner medals will be awarded across multiple age groups from 0 to 60 plus, and additional recognitions include a Lifetime Stripes award for the eldest runner, Hope Champion awards for best overall male and female, and the Claire's Courage Award.
