PPP3CA Race for Rare 5K Run/Walk
The 3rd Annual Race for Rare is scheduled for August 23, 2026 at Lake Shawnee in Topeka, Kansas. The event benefits the PPP3CA Hope Foundation, a parent-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports research, collaboration, awareness, and family services related to the PPP3CA rare disease.

The event is family friendly and uses Shelter House #3 at Lake Shawnee, which has air conditioning and restrooms. Parking is available nearby at the public playground. On-site amenities include a free pancake bar provided by Hazel Catering, coffee available for purchase, water stations, a Kona Ice truck, free face painting for children, participation medals for kids, event photography, a balloon photo display, vendor booths, nutrition vendors, and a permanent jewelry booth.
This is an untimed race monitored by volunteers. Awards and participation recognition include winner medals across age categories from 0 through 60+, best overall male and female, and a special Claire’s Hope Award. A silent auction with local donor prize baskets will run during the event; winners must be present to claim auction items.
Registration options include a Full Zebra Experience package with a Race for Rare logo shirt and swag bag, a Basic in person entry, and a Basic virtual entry. Fees vary by option. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
