3rd Annual PPP3CA Race for Rare 5K Run/Walk
The event offers both an in-person and a virtual option and features two distance choices:
- 1 Mile Walk
- 5K Run/Walk
The in-person venue is Shelter House #3 at Lake Shawnee in Topeka, Kansas. The course is a paved trail around Lake Shawnee with a few parking-lot crossing points monitored by volunteers. The trail will be marked by yard signs indicating the 1 Mile and 5K turnaround points. Water will be available at the 5K turnaround point and at the start/finish area, provided by a local vendor. Volunteers and signage will direct participants along the course.
This is an untimed event. First-place finishers for the full 5K distance will be recognized by volunteers in these categories: Adult Male, Adult Female, Teen, Child under 12, and Eldest. On-site amenities and family features include a free pancake bar, a coffee truck for purchases, free face painting for children, bubbles and chalk, kids’ finisher medals, wristbands, and a silent auction with multiple prize items. A chance to win a flower bouquet is tied to registration tickets.
Parking is centered at Shelter House #3 and the Playground Parking Lot, with limited overflow parking noted nearby. T-shirt pickup is arranged at the Playground Parking Lot next to Shelter House #3 prior to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
