PPP3CA Race for Rare 5K
The PPP3CA Race for Rare is a charity run/walk held at Lake Shawnee in Topeka, Kansas, that benefits the PPP3CA Hope Foundation, a parent-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting research, collaboration, awareness, and families affected by PPP3CA. The event offers both in-person and virtual participation options.
Distances:
- 1 Mile Walk
- 5K Run/Walk
In-person participants meet at Shelter House #3 at Lake Shawnee. There are vendor areas on site, raffles with local sponsor prize baskets, a pancake bar and water provided free, on-site food and beverage trucks for purchases, and complimentary face painting for children. Cash and Venmo are accepted for raffle ticket purchases.
The 5K is an untimed race. Winner medals and awards will be given across multiple age categories and special awards, including recognition for the eldest runner and overall best male and female. Registration options include a Full Zebra Experience for a fee that adds a race shirt and swag bag, a Basic entry for on-site participation, and a Virtual basic entry for remote participants. The virtual option allows participants to join from any location to support PPP3CA.
Race organizers note that proceeds support research aimed at finding effective, targeted treatments for children with PPP3CA and provide resources for affected families. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
