Poynton Village 10k
The Poynton Village 10k is a multi-terrain running event that takes place in and around the village of Poynton. The race has an entry limit of 800 participants and is open to runners with a minimum age of 16 years. There are no entries available on the day of the event.
The course covers a total distance of 10 km and features a mix of surfaces:
- 10 km (Road, trail, and towpath)
The route begins in the village centre on Park Lane, which serves as the main shopping street. From the start, the path leads out of the village toward the Middlewood Way. The return journey to the finish line on Park Lane incorporates the Poynton Inclines and Poynton Park. While there is no strict cut-off time, the road closure on Park Lane is lifted after one hour and 45 minutes, after which participants continue while the road is open to traffic.
Race headquarters are located at the Poynton Civic Centre. This venue serves as the hub for registration and provides access to toilet facilities and a hall for bag storage. These bags are not supervised during the event. Parking is available nearby in several local car parks, though these may require a fee.
The event utilizes chip timing to record participant results. Prizes are awarded according to UKA guidelines for various categories, including the top three male and female finishers, veteran age groups starting from V40 in five-year increments, and male and female team prizes. Medals are not included as a standard item but can be pre-ordered. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
