Event overview
The 6th Annual Poteet Strawberry 5K/1 Mile Walk & Mascot Dash takes place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, in Poteet, TX (9199 N. State Hwy 16, Poteet 78065). The event is held rain or shine and is organized as a nonprofit fundraiser. Last year the event had 214 participants. The event offers these race options:
- 5K Run/Walk (certified course; chip timed)
- 1 Mile Run/Walk (one lap around the Poteet Strawberry Festival Grounds)
- Mascot Dash (mascots only; tentative)
Logistics, rules, and extras
Packet pick-up and late registration take place at the Poteet Strawberry Festival Grounds (Armed Forces Pavilion). Packet pick-up is scheduled the day before and on race day. Children ages 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult on course; children under 5 must be escorted by a parent or guardian. Strollers and leashed pets are allowed with safety and cleanliness requirements. The event does not allow rollovers, transfers, deferments, or refunds.
Shirts and finisher medals are limited: the first 200 registered participants who sign up by March 2, 2026, are guaranteed shirts; the first 200 finishers earn medals. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers and by age groups; there is also a team award for the largest registered team. The event supports local projects and scholarship funds.
