Event Overview
The Popcorn Run Edmonton is a community sports event held at Kinsmen Park in Edmonton, Alberta. Scheduled for May 17, 2026, the event offers participants the opportunity to run or walk across various distances. The race supports Sashbear, a charity partner dedicated to providing skills and support for families and communities affected by mental health challenges.
The following distances are available for participants:
- 2 km (Little Kernel): There is no age limit for this distance, and strollers are permitted. Children aged 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
- 5 km (Poppen 5k Run): A distance designed for both runners and walkers.
- 10 km (Hot Poppin 10k): The longest course option available during the event.
Regardless of the chosen distance, all participants receive an entry to the event and a finisher medal. A signature feature of the race is the post-run refreshment, which includes bags of kettle corn and fresh lemonade. While the 2 km and 5 km participants receive a bag of popcorn, those completing the 10 km course are provided with two large bags. Registration remains open until mid-May, shortly before the scheduled race date. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
