The Popcorn Run Calgary
The Popcorn Run Calgary is a community sports event held at South Glenmore Park on 24 Street Southwest in Calgary. Scheduled for May, the event offers participants the opportunity to run or walk across various distances in a park setting.
Participants can choose from the following distances:
- 2 km (Little Kernel)
- 5 km (Poppen 5k)
- 10 km (Hot Poppin 10k)
The 2 km course is open to all ages, and strollers are permitted. Children aged 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult. For the 5 km and 10 km events, participant kits include entry, a finisher medal, and post-race refreshments consisting of kettle corn and fresh lemonade. The 10 km registration specifically includes two large bags of kettle corn.
The event partners with Scouts Canada as its official charity. Participation supports the No One Left Behind (NOLB) program, which provides financial subsidies to ensure youth can access scouting programs regardless of their economic circumstances. Registration is open to the public with tiered pricing based on the date of entry, and volunteer positions are available for those interested in supporting the event operations.
