Pony Express Trail Run
The Pony Express Trail Run takes place on October 16, 2026, west of Faust, Utah. The event offers two distances:
- 100 miles - out 58.5 miles to Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge then back, finishing at Simpson Springs Corral
- 50 miles - finishes at Blackrock Pony Express station site
Registration closes on October 15.
Course and logistics
Both races start at Lookout Campground west of Faust, Utah. The course is on the historic Pony Express Trail and is described as remote. Roads are unpaved: the route is 100% dirt road. Total elevation gain and loss is about 3,000 feet.
Support crews are required to provide food and water along the way; sharing a crew with another runner is permitted. Use of a map is required, and signs mark major intersections on the Pony Express Trail. The organizer notes the roads are generally in good condition for vehicle travel.
