Pony Express Trail Run

The Pony Express Trail Run is held on the historic Pony Express Trail west of Faust, Utah. The event offers two distance options:

  • 100 mile
  • 50 mile

Both races start at Lookout Campground west of Faust. The 100 mile course goes out 58.5 miles to Fish Springs National Wildlife Refuge and returns to finish at Simpson Springs Corral. The 50 mile course follows the same initial direction and finishes at the Blackrock Pony Express station site.

The course is fully on dirt road and has about 3,000 feet of total elevation gain and loss. The route runs through remote areas; roads are generally in good condition for vehicle access if driven at moderate speeds. Support crews are required to provide food and water for runners, and sharing a crew with another runner is allowed. Competitors must use a map to navigate, though signs mark the Pony Express Trail at major intersections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
