Pony Express Half Marathon and 5K
The 7th annual Pony Express Half Marathon and 5K takes place on September 12, 2026, in historic downtown Marysville, Kansas, with race activities centered near 7th and Broadway Streets. The course runs on paved and brick streets and includes portions of the Blue River Rail Trail, a path on a retired railroad bed alongside the Big Blue River. Runners will pass multiple bridges and view limestone outcrops, grass-covered bluffs, and open farm fields.
Race provisions include periodic water and aid stations along the routes. Both races are chip timed. Each participant receives a race t-shirt, and half marathon finishers receive a finisher medal. Top overall finishers receive awards after the races.
Event registration opens August 1, 2026. To be guaranteed a race shirt, register by September 5, 2026 at 11pm. There is no same day registration and no refunds. The event is held in conjunction with the Pony Express 120 Gravel Dash, a 120-mile bicycle race that begins and ends in downtown Marysville; bicyclists will be on course throughout the day. Food and other downtown activities are scheduled during the event.
All proceeds from this event benefit St. Gregory the Great Catholic School PTO.
