Polar Pals 5K, 1 Mile and 1/2 Mile
Polar Pals is a free community run held as part of the Stafford Schools Annual Community Health and Wellness Fair. The event was rescheduled to February 7, 2026 and will take place at Colonial Forge High School, 550 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554.
Events include:
- 5K for kids and adults
- 1 Mile for ages 4 to 12
- 1/2 Mile for ages 12 and under
All races begin and end at the front of the school. The 1/2 mile and 1 mile courses use one or two laps around the school. The 5K course runs through the Colonial Forge neighborhood and behind the high school athletic fields. Course maps are available upon request.
The event aims to encourage outdoor activity during the chillier months and to connect families with school division departments and community partners through indoor activities and resources. Hot chocolate will be available after the outdoor portion. An awards ceremony will be held in the school gymnasium for top runners.
Awards and participant items vary by event. All 1/2 mile and 1 mile participants receive a swag bag. The school with the most overall runners will receive a photo shoot and display the giant Polar Pal stuffed bear for the year. The 5K includes prizes for fastest overall male and female and for multiple age groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
