Event details
The Polar Pals event takes place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 550 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554. It is a free event held as part of the Stafford Schools Annual Community Health and Wellness Fair. The event includes outdoor runs for children and adults, with hot chocolate and indoor activities and resources provided by school division departments and community partners. Check-in opens at 11:00.

Course and awards
All races begin and end at the front of the school. The 1/2 mile and 1 mile courses use one or two laps around the school, respectively. The 5K course runs through the Colonial Forge neighborhood and behind the high school athletic fields. Maps are available upon request.
An awards ceremony will be held in the gymnasium for top runners. All 1/2 mile and 1 mile participants receive a swag bag. The school with the most overall runners earns a photo shoot and a giant Polar Pal stuffed bear to display for the year. 5K prizes are awarded for fastest male and female overall and in these age groups: under 10, 11-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and over.
