Event overview
The Elders Point to Pinnacle is an annual road run and walk held in Hobart, Tasmania, with the 2025 event on 16 November marking the 30th anniversary. The event starts at Wrest Point car park and finishes on the summit of Kunanyi / Mount Wellington for the main course. Two main options are offered:
- 21.1 km Point to Pinnacle (1,271 m climb)
- 10 km Point to Pub (426 m climb)
Both courses follow Sandy Bay Road into Davey Street / Huon Road. The Point to Pinnacle continues onto Pillinger Drive to the pinnacle, while the Point to Pub finishes at the Fern Tree Tavern. There are mandatory on-course checkpoints and overall time cut offs; buses transport finishers from the summit back to the start. A shuttle service is provided from the Fern Tree Tavern.
Categories, prizes and fundraising
The event includes competitive, corporate, club and recreational team categories. The Corporate Cup is decided by the combined fastest four finish times per registered corporate team. Prize money for the Point to Pinnacle (equal male and female) is $2,000 for 1st, $1,000 for 2nd and down to $200 for 5th. Point to Pub prizes are $300, $200 and $100. Record bonuses of $3,000 (Pinnacle) and $300 (Pub) are available. All finishers within the time limits receive a medal and digital certificate; a special sub-2 hour cap is awarded to Pinnacle runners who reach the summit under two hours (gun time).
