Pocantico Hills Races, Tarrytown NY
The Pocantico Hills Races take place in the Rockefeller State Preserve with start and finish at Rockwood Hall, 1 Rockwood Road, Tarrytown, NY 10591. The course uses wide, groomed carriage roads and follows trails that were built over a century ago.
Both the half marathon and the marathon are single loop courses. The marathon route passes most of the preserve’s main sights and uses the same carriage-road network as the half marathon. The terrain moves through fields, historic stone walls, bridges, grazing livestock areas, rivers, forests, and lakes. The course is entirely on trail and carriage road surfaces with no public road traffic.
Events include standard and charity bib entries, and options to run or walk in the marathon and the half marathon. The races are described as walk-friendly and include generous cutoff times to accommodate a range of paces. The setting offers views of the Hudson River and the Palisades and is located just off Route 9 in Sleepy Hollow, next to Phelps Hospital.
