Plymouth Runway Mile & 5K
The Plymouth Runway events take place at Plymouth Municipal Airport (301 Airport Rd, Plymouth, IN) as a fundraiser for scholarships for aviation students. All proceeds support scholarship opportunities through local flight schools.
Distances offered:
- Runway Mile : 1 mile
- Runway 5K : 3.1 miles
- Plymouth Runway Challenge : both races combined
Both the Mile and 5K are competitive, chip timed races with overall and age group awards. Cash prizes are given to the top three male and female finishers in each race: $100 for first, $50 for second, and $25 for third. Age group awards are available for the top three finishers in the listed age categories. There are no finisher medals for the Mile or 5K; Challenge participants receive a custom finisher medal after completing both races within the stated time limits.
The course uses the newly constructed taxiway and the airport runway; the runway will be closed to aircraft during the event. Numerous aircraft, including airplanes and helicopters, will be on display. Helicopter rides will be available for a fee. Strollers are welcome; children running under their own power must be registered, while children being pushed in strollers do not require registration.
Registration is available only through RunSignup and requires a credit card. Packet pickup is at the airport on Friday, June 11 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and on Saturday at the airport starting at 7:00am. Airport parking is available Friday only; on Saturday participants and spectators will park at Plymouth High School (1 Big Red Drive) with continuous shuttle buses to and from the airport from 7:00am to 12:00pm. A full refund minus processing fee is available if requested on or before 5/31/27; no refunds starting 6/1/27 and no refunds for weather cancellations.
