Event overview
The Plymouth Runway Mile & 5K takes place on June 13, 2026 at Plymouth Municipal Airport, 301 Airport Rd, Plymouth, IN 46563. The event includes the following races:
- 1 mile
- 5K
- Runway Challenge (entry for both races with a custom finisher medal for completing both within the time limits)
The races are a fundraising effort for AlphaFlight flight school, with all proceeds supporting scholarship opportunities for students. Aircraft, including airplanes and helicopters, will be on display and helicopter rides will be available for a fee. The airport runway will be closed to aircraft operations for the event so participants race on the runway and taxiway.
Format, awards and logistics
Both the Mile and the 5K are chip-timed and offer overall and age group awards. There are no finisher medals for the individual Mile or 5K. Cash prizes for the top three male and female finishers in each race are: $100, $50, and $25. Age group awards are given to the top three in each listed group from 8 & under through 80+.
Registration is available only through RunSignup and closes 15 minutes before each race. Packet pickup is at the airport on Friday, June 12 (3:00-6:00pm) and on race day starting at 7:00am. Due to limited airport parking, Saturday parking will be at Plymouth High School (1 Big Red Drive) with continuous shuttle buses to the airport. Refunds are available in full minus processing fee if requested on or before May 31, 2026; no refunds after June 1, 2026.
