Event Overview
The Plymouth Runway Mile and 5K are held at Plymouth Municipal Airport. The event is a fundraiser for AlphaFlight, a locally owned flight school. All proceeds support student scholarships.
The runway will be closed to aircraft for the event, allowing participants to run on the actual runway and taxiway. There will be airplanes and helicopters on display, and helicopter rides will be available for an extra fee. The event includes food trucks.
Events
Participants can choose from three events:
- Plymouth Runway Mile
- Plymouth Runway 5K
- Plymouth Runway Challenge (participating in both the Mile and 5K at a discounted rate)
Race Details
Both the Mile and 5K are chip-timed, competitive races with overall and age group awards. Strollers are allowed. Children running the course must be registered, but children in strollers do not.
The 5K course starts south of the main airport building. Participants run on a taxiway before turning onto the runway, looping around the airport grounds, and finishing by running the full length of the runway. A course map will be made available later.
The Plymouth Runway Challenge offers a custom finisher medal for those who complete both the Mile and 5K within their respective time limits.
Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in both the Mile and 5K races.
Logistics
Packet pickup is at the airport on Friday before the race and on race morning. Due to limited parking at the airport on race day, all participants and spectators must park at Plymouth High School and take a provided shuttle bus to the venue. The shuttle service begins at 6:30 AM.
Registration is online only and closes 15 minutes before each race's start time. T-shirt size is only guaranteed for registrations completed by May 31. There is a full refund policy (minus a processing fee) for cancellations requested by May 31. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
