Event overview
The Plymouth Runway Mile & 5K takes place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Plymouth Municipal Airport (301 Airport Rd, Plymouth, IN 46563). The event is a fundraiser for AlphaFlight, a local flight school; all proceeds support scholarship opportunities for flight students. There are three entries offered: a one-mile race, a 5K, and a combined Runway Challenge that includes both races at a reduced price.

Registration is conducted only through RunSignup and closes 15 minutes before each race. Shirt sizes are guaranteed for registrations completed by May 31. Entry fees vary by event and by date, with higher fees applied after the early-registration deadline and on race day.
Course, awards and logistics
Both races start on the south side of the main airport building and use the newly constructed taxiway and the runway as part of the course. The 5K route includes sections between hangars, a large ramp area, and a full-length runway segment. The runway will be closed to aircraft operations for the duration of the event. Numerous aircraft, including airplanes and helicopters, will be on display; helicopter rides are available for a fee.
Both the Mile and 5K are chip-timed and offer overall and age-group awards. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each race: $100 for first, $50 for second, and $25 for third. The Runway Challenge awards a custom finisher medal to participants who complete both races within the required time limits. Packet pickup is at the airport on Friday, June 12 (3:00-6:00pm) and on race morning starting at 7:00am. Due to limited airport parking, Saturday parking is at Plymouth High School with continuous shuttle buses to the airport.
