Plymouth Runway Mile & 5K
The Plymouth Runway events are a fundraising race day at Plymouth Municipal Airport in Plymouth, Indiana. Proceeds support scholarship opportunities for students training at AlphaFlight, a locally owned flight school.
Distances offered include:
- 1 mile competitive race with chip timing and overall and age group awards
- 3.1 miles (5K) competitive race with chip timing and overall and age group awards
- 4.1 miles (Challenge) combined entry for both races with a custom finisher medal
Both the mile and 5K use the airport taxiway and runway for portions of their courses. The runway will be closed to aircraft operations during the event so participants can run on the actual runway. Numerous aircraft, including airplanes and helicopters, will be on display. Helicopter rides will be available for a fee. Food trucks will be present.
Strollers are welcome. Any child completing a course under their own power must be registered; a child being pushed in a stroller does not require registration. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in both the mile and the 5K, and age group awards go to the top three in each listed age bracket from 8 & under through 80 plus. Registration is available only through an online registration platform. Packet pickup is scheduled at the airport the day before and the morning of the event.
