Plymouth Runway Mile & 5K
The Plymouth Runway events take place at Plymouth Municipal Airport (301 Airport Rd, Plymouth, IN) as a fundraising effort for AlphaFlight, a locally owned flight school. All proceeds support scholarship opportunities for flight students.
Event options include:
- 1 Mile (Runway Mile)
- 3.1 Miles (Runway 5K)
- 4.1 Miles (Plymouth Runway Challenge, both races combined)
Both the Runway Mile and Runway 5K are competitive races with chip timing, overall and age group awards. There are no finisher medals for the individual Mile or 5K; the Challenge awards a custom finisher medal to participants who complete both races within their respective time limits. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers in both the Mile and the 5K: $100, $50, and $25. Age group awards are given to the top three finishers in standard age categories from 8 & under through 80+.
Courses start on the south side of the main airport building, use a newly constructed taxiway for about 1/2 mile, and include running on the airport runway. The 5K route includes an additional loop around the airport before running the full length of the runway.
Parking at the airport is limited; participants and spectators will use parking at Plymouth High School with shuttle buses to the airport. Packet pickup is available at the airport the day before and on event morning. Registration is online only through RunSignup; shirt sizes are guaranteed with registration by 5/31/26. A refund is available, minus processing fees, if requested on or before 5/31/26; no refunds start 6/1/26.
