Plogging with the Bank of America Chicago Marathon
This is a free community plogging event hosted by the Bank of America Chicago Marathon and Chicago Event Management: Community Engagement at Clarence F. Buckingham Memorial Fountain in Chicago on Monday, October 12, 2026. A sustainability advocate will introduce plogging and explain how running or walking can be combined with environmental stewardship.
The activity consists of a group run or walk of 3K (1.86 miles) where participants pick up litter along a planned route. The session includes a brief welcome and review of plogging followed by the 3K plogging run or walk. The listed duration for the event is 1 hour 30 minutes.
The meet-up location is a tent near the southwest corner of Buckingham Fountain where participants gather for introductions and a route review. Water and snacks will be provided. RSVP is requested by Sunday, October 11. Collection boxes at the meet-up will accept gently used books and running shoes for partner organizations Open Books and Sneaker Impact.
