Platter's Chocolate Factory Sponge Candy 5K & 1 Mile Fun Walk
Platter's Chocolate Factory presents the 9th annual Sponge Candy event on September 19, 2026, in North Tonawanda, New York. The event centers on a 5K run and a 1 mile fun walk with start and finish lines located on Ohio Street and in front of Platter's Chocolate Factory at the renovated Wurlitzer Building, 908 Niagara Falls Blvd.

All participants receive sponge candy. Fruit, snacks, and bottled water are served at the finish area. Packet pickup is available on race day inside the Wurlitzer Building, with an early packet pickup option the Friday before the race. Online registration remains open until race day; tiered fees apply and a shirt size guarantee is offered for those who register by the stated deadline.
Net proceeds will be donated to Diamonds in the Ruff Animal Rescue, a Niagara County nonprofit. The week of events includes a basket raffle benefiting charity, sponge candy sampling for National Sponge Candy Day, a mascot appearance, and evening live music at a nearby brewery. Awards include gift baskets for overall winners and custom medals for top three male and female finishers in each age group.
