Event Overview
The Platte River Trail 36 Hour is a self-supported endurance event held in Casper, Wyoming. The race follows a "fat ass" format, meaning there are no registration fees and participants are responsible for their own support and supplies throughout the duration of the event. The race has a strictly limited capacity of 10 participants.
Course Information
The event takes place on the concrete surfaces of the Platte River Trail, starting and finishing at the Tate Pumphouse. Due to trail construction, participants have two main out-and-back route options that they can mix and match at any time during the race:
- 1 mile total: A 0.5-mile eastward segment toward Amoco Park and back.
- 2 miles total: A 1-mile westward segment across the footbridge toward First Street Park and back.
Runners are responsible for tracking their own distance and elapsed time using a GPS device or mobile application, which must be presented upon completion. Participants aiming for specific milestones, such as 100 miles, can combine these segments as needed to reach their goal distance.
Participant Requirements
This event is open to runners aged 18 and older. As a self-supported race, participants must provide all their own hydration, nutrition, and supplies. Facilities at the Tate Pumphouse include parking and two porta-potties. While runners may start or finish at any point within the 36-hour window, they must remain off the course once the official end time is reached.
