Plaisir Sunday Hike at Plaisir Wine Estate
The Plaisir Sunday Hike is a self-paced outdoor event on the slopes of Simonsberg at Plaisir Wine Estate in Simondium, Wes-Kaap. It is a curated, non-competitive experience that combines movement, a scenic route through vineyards and forest, and a picnic-style gathering at a viewpoint. Typical age range is 12+.
The route is approximately 9.6 km round trip. The ascent to the viewpoint is about 5 km with an elevation gain of approximately 330 m on moderate, slightly technical single track. The return follows roughly 4.6 km through forest and vineyard trails. The overall time on route including the viewpoint picnic is around three to four hours. The event is not a guided hike and participants move at their own pace on a marked trail.
Included in the registration fee are access to the estate hiking route, marked trail to the viewpoint and back, a curated viewpoint picnic atmosphere, a taste of selected Plaisir wine, a conservancy contribution, and event management and safety oversight. Standard entry is R199 per person, pensioners receive a 50 percent discount, and children younger than 14 enter free. Capacity is limited. Participants must remain on marked trails and follow on-site safety and environmental rules; fires, loud music, and drones are not permitted.
