Both courses are chip timed for runners who want official times. The event is cup less; participants should bring a handheld bottle or hydration pack. The half marathon course has four water stations and the 10K course has two water stations. Finishers receive a finisher mug and finisher shirt; each participant also receives a John Wayne Grit Series shirt. There is a race component with podium prizes: three female and three male winners for each course, for a total of 12 podium medals and prizes.
Packet pickup takes place at The Sound Stage (The Barn) on Mane Street, Pioneertown, CA 92268. Free parking is available at The OK Corral and other nearby lots. Photographers and a digital photo booth will capture images along the course and at the start/finish area. Cancer survivors who register may collect a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup while supplies last.
The run benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation and supports its cancer research, education, and patient programs. Organizers note they are planning for a virtual option due to COVID-19 and that in-person details are tentative. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
