Pioneertown Half Marathon
The event on March 20, 2027 takes place in Pioneertown, California, and benefits the John Wayne Cancer Foundation as part of the John Wayne Grit Series. The run supports the foundation’s research, education, awareness and support programs.
The course runs through the high desert and the Pioneertown Mountains Preserve with views of the Sawtooth Mountains and is situated near Joshua Tree National Park. The venue elevation is 4,400 feet. Distances:

- 10K
Both courses are chip timed for participants who want to race; walking or running at a personal pace is also an option. The event enforces no pacing and no muling rules; violations will result in disqualification. There is a race component with podium prizes for the top three female and top three male finishers on each course, for a total of 12 podium awards.
Packet pickup is held at The Sound Stage (also called The Barn) on Mane Street, 53585 Mane St, Pioneertown, CA 92268. Packets include a bib and a John Wayne Grit Series shirt; finisher items include a mug and a finisher shirt. Cancer survivors who register may receive a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup while supplies last. The event is cup less: participants should bring a handheld bottle or hydration pack. There are four water stations on the half marathon course and two on the 10K course, and filled water bottles are provided to finishers. Photographers and a digital photo booth will be available at the event, and additional JWGS merchandise will be offered for sale. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
