Pioneertown Half Marathon
The Pioneertown event is scheduled for March 20, 2027 and supports the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. The race offers two distances and takes place on a rugged, hilly course in the Pioneertown Mountains Preserve near Joshua Tree National Park.
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The course features hills and views of the high desert and the Sawtooth Mountains. The venue elevation is 4,400 feet. Both courses are chip timed for participants who wish to race. Finishers receive a finisher mug and a finisher shirt; bibs are distributed at packet pickup.
Packet pickup is held at The Sound Stage (also called The Barn) on Mane Street, 53585 Mane St, Pioneertown, CA 92268. Cancer survivors who register receive a complimentary yellow bandana at packet pickup while supplies last. Merchandise is available for sale at the event. Free parking is available at The OK Corral and other nearby lots.
The event is cup less: there are four water stations on the half marathon course and two on the 10K course. Participants are asked to use personal hydration such as handheld bottles or hydration packs; filled water bottles will be available for finishers at the finish line. Photographers and videographers will document the start, finish, and course, and a digital photo booth will be inside the Barn.
There is a race component with podium prizes: three female and three male winners for each course, for a total of twelve podium medals and prizes. Fundraising options exist for individuals and teams, with recognition and potential matching gifts. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
