Both courses are chip timed. Race packets include a bib, a John Wayne Grit Series shirt and other items; finishers receive a finisher mug and a finisher shirt at the finish line. Packet pickup takes place at The Sound Stage, also known as The Barn, on Mane Street in Pioneertown.
The event is cupless at aid stations. Runners should bring a handheld water bottle or hydration pack; there will be four water stations on the half marathon course and two on the 10K course. Filled water bottles will be provided to finishers at the finish line. There is a race component with podium prizes: three female and three male winners for each course, for a total of 12 podium medals and prizes.
Additional notes include a complimentary yellow bandana for cancer survivors at packet pickup while supplies last, photographers and a digital photo booth on race day, and event merchandise available for purchase. Early bird pricing and fundraising dates apply and registration closes prior to the event. Due to circumstances regarding COVID-19, the foundation has planned a virtual option while hoping to return to in person racing. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
