PILSC Legacy Run/Walk
The PILSC Legacy Run/Walk is an annual community event; the fifth edition is scheduled for June 27, 2026 and is presented by The Scott Smed Foundation. The run and walk raises awareness of the impacts of infertility, miscarriage, termination for medical reasons (TFMR), stillbirth, neonatal loss, and sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
The family-inclusive event raises funds to support no-cost services and community programs delivered by the Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support Centre (PILSC), a registered charity that assists families through the complex journey of loss and healing. In 2025 the event raised over $135,000 and the 2026 fundraising target is $150,000.
The organizer lists concrete examples of how contributions are used: $85 funds one coaching session, $125 supports the peer helpline, $200 sponsors a support group, and $300 connects someone with a peer mentor for three months. PILSC states that its services are intended to be accessible to everyone regardless of financial situation, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, faith, or background.
Event features mentioned by the organizer include food and beverage options, a kids zone, entertainment with an emcee and DJ, event apparel and custom legacy signs, volunteer opportunities, and ticketing. The event is hosted by PILSC, which also acknowledges the traditional territories of the Treaty 7 region. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
