Pigman Triathlon and related events
The Pigman Triathlon event takes place on June 14, 2026, at Pleasant Creek State Park, 4530 McClintock Road, Palo, IA 52324, US. The program includes multiple event types: sprint and Olympic triathlons (individual and relay), sprint and Olympic aquabike (swim and bike), a high school sprint triathlon open to ages 13 to 19, an open water swim only (1500 m), and a sprint duathlon.
Distances for the triathlon formats are:
- Sprint: 0.5 km swim, 25 km bike, 5 km run.
- Olympic: 1.5 km swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run.
Relay teams are accepted; awards are given to top Male, Female, and Coed teams. The swim uses a mixed format: elite athletes and teams start in waves, while other participants use a time-trial start. In the time-trial format athletes line up by age group (triathlon age is based on age as of December 31 of the race year) and one person starts every three seconds by crossing the chip timing mat on the beach before entering the water.
The event is chip timed. Additional event categories and entry options are organized by the race staff at Pleasant Creek State Park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
