Piedmont Turkey Trot - 25th Annual
The Piedmont Turkey Trot is a community 5K held in Piedmont, California on November 26, 2026. The event starts and finishes at the Piedmont Exedra near Highland and Magnolia Avenues and is certified as a USA Track & Field 5K course. The event has been organized annually and this edition marks the 25th running.
The race operates as a nonprofit effort; net proceeds benefit the Piedmont High School Cross Country and Track & Field teams. The organization also supports Piedmont Middle School cross country and track teams, the Piedmont Junior Running Club, Run Better Oakland, and the Piedmont Service Crew. Since 2017 the event reports $205,000 returned to the local community, including $135,000 toward the Hampton Field rebuild, $20,000 to the Piedmont Education Foundation, and $60,000 to the PHS Athletic Boosters.
Participant guidelines note that bikes, in-line skates, trikes, scooters, wagons and skateboards are not permitted on the course. Headphones or earbuds are strongly discouraged so participants can hear directions from officials. Strollers and baby joggers are permitted but must start from the designated back-of-start signage. Dogs on short leashes are permitted with no retractable leashes. Awards are given to the top three finishers in specified age and gender categories, plus non-binary categories for 12 and under and 13 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
