Philadelphia Distance Run

The Philadelphia Distance Run takes place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, primarily centered around the Benjamin Franklin Parkway area. This event features road races through city streets and along the Schuylkill River. The course is noted for being flat and has been the site of six world records in the past.

Participants can choose from several distance options and formats:

  • 5K: An out and back course located along Kelly Drive.
  • Half Marathon: A 13.1 mile route through city streets and along the river.
  • 5K Virtual: A remote participation option for the 5K distance.
  • Half Marathon Virtual: A remote participation option for the 13.1 mile distance.

Each registered runner receives a race technical t-shirt and a finisher's medal. Electronic chip timing is provided for the in-person races, which includes split times. After the event, a post-race party is held where participants age 21 and over are provided with one complimentary beer.

The half marathon course is designed for speed, utilizing flat terrain along the riverfront. While the 5K and Half Marathon start 30 minutes apart, the organizers do not guarantee that participants can complete both races in person on the same morning. Registration is open to the public, and the event offers options to defer or transfer registrations for a fee in place of refunds. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
