Petzl Night Runner Rivington
The event is the final round of the Petzl Night Runner Series with a "close encounters" theme linked to Rivington's UFO reputation and the radio masts on Winter Hill. It is a night trail running event held at Rivington and Blackrod High School in Bolton.
The course is fully marked with reflective signs and runners must use a good quality head torch or hand held torch to see the route. Terrain is rough, often muddy, boggy and rocky, so road shoes are not adequate. Participants are advised to use trail or fell shoes with an aggressive tread and to wear warm clothing; a wind or waterproof jacket is recommended.
