Event overview
The Petzl Night Runner Rivington takes place on 24 January 2026 at Rivington and Blackrod High School, Rivington Lane, Bolton (BL6 7RU). The event is the final round of the Petzl Night Runner Series and uses a “close encounters” theme linked to Winter Hill and its radio masts. The course is run at night and is marked with reflective signs.

The route is off-road, with rough, boggy and rocky terrain. Runners must use a good quality head torch or hand-held torch and wear trail or fell shoes with an aggressive tread. Warm clothing and a wind or waterproof jacket are recommended. The minimum age for both distances is 16 years on the day. A free 1k kids event is provided for young children of parents taking part, with medals for all finishers.
Entry fees are listed as £32 for the 10k and £39 for the Half Marathon. Entry includes a glow-in-the-dark finisher’s medal, car parking, electronic timing, medical cover, custom bib number, course signing with reflective signs and drinks at the finish.
