Perpetua Fatass : January 9, 2027, Yachats, Oregon
The 13th annual Perpetua Fatass is a free, registration required, self supported winter trail run that starts and finishes at Yachats Commons in Yachats, Oregon. Routes travel onto Cape Perpetua and use local trails and sections of the Oregon Coast Trail.
Distances available:
- 9 Mile: climb to Cape Perpetua Lookout then return to Yachats Commons
- 20K: continue to Cape Perpetua Visitor Center then turn back
- 30K-ish: choice at the Visitor Center between a classic 30K via Gwynn Creek or a longer ~20 mile option via Cummins Creek
- 50K: full route via Cooks Ridge, Cummins Peak Road, Cummins Ridge, a short Highway 101 section and the Oregon Coast Trail (approximately 31 miles)
The event is intentionally no frills: there are no medals, no event swag and no traditional aid stations. Water is available at two locations on course and at the Visitor Center, but participants should carry their own food, hydration, layers and navigation. Weather in January can include rain, wind, mud and cold, and conditions may change while on the trail. Participants are advised to download maps and GPX files before arriving because cellular service can be inconsistent. Post run potluck takes place at Yachats Commons; attendees typically bring something to share. Parking is available around the Commons and on surrounding streets.
