Pere Malfait Trail Race - Bastrop, LA
The Pere Malfait Trail Race takes place at Bussey Brake Wildlife Management Area near Bastrop, Louisiana on Saturday, November 21, 2026. This is the third edition of the event and it offers multiple distances.

The course follows the top of the Bussey Brake reservoir levee and is described as very flat. Runners will encounter holes with large ant piles and a mix of exposed and shaded sections; the front side of the course is exposed to sun while the back side has shade. Two aid stations are provided: a fully manned station at start/finish with hot food, and an on-course station at about four miles offering ice, water, electrolytes, and snacks. Organizers plan additional trail cameras for photos and video.
Amenities and logistics include two parking areas on the west side of Bonner Ferry Road and a self-clearing permit station at the north parking area. Lodging options nearby mention primitive campsites, cabins, and full service RV hookups at The Oaks at Bussey, and Chemin-A-Haut State Park located about seven miles away.
Swag includes a T-shirt, headbands, and a runner light. All participants receive a finisher medal; the top three male and female finishers receive custom plaques. Race-day food options are listed and will include vegan choices. Discounts are available for military, donors, and first responders with proof required within 24 hours of registration.
