Pere Malfait Trail Race
The Pere Malfait Trail Race is scheduled for November 21, 2026 in Bastrop, Louisiana at Bussey Brake Wildlife Management Area. The event is organized by BTR and this edition is the third year of the race.

The Bussey Brake Trail follows the reservoir levee and is described as very flat with some terrain features such as holes and large ant piles. The front side of the course is exposed to sun while the back side has shade. Two aid stations are listed: a fully manned station at the start/finish offering hot food, and an on-course station at about 4 miles providing ice, water, electrolytes, and snacks. All participants receive a finisher medal; top three male and female finishers receive custom plaques.
Event amenities and logistics noted by the organizer include new swag additions, a trail camera for pictures and videos, and race swag items such as a T-shirt, headbands, and a runner light. Lodging options near the venue include primitive campsites, cabins, and full service RV hookups at The Oaks at Bussey, and Chemin A Haut State Park about seven miles away.
