About the race
Peralta Pumpkin Pursuit at Merritt College is organized by the Peralta Colleges Foundation to support student programs at Berkeley City College, College of Alameda, Laney College, and Merritt College. The event includes in-person races and a virtual option, with proceeds supporting the four colleges.
The event offers these distances:
- 5K Run/Walk around the college with views of the Bay Area.
- 10K Run around the college with Bay Area views.
- 1-Mile Kids Run (ages 12 and under), out-and-back.
Entry fees differ by distance, age group, and registration period. A virtual 5K is listed at $35 for all ages. Included with many entry options are a custom event T-shirt, finisher medal, two non-alcoholic drink tickets, access to food trucks, kids activities, and information tables highlighting programs across the four colleges. Entry fees are non-refundable and non-transferrable.
Awards are listed as top three male and female overall for the in-person 5K. The kids 1-Mile in-person receives a finisher medal only. There are no awards for the virtual 5K. Event parking is available in Lot C with signage and volunteer direction. Post-race activities, food options, and an award ceremony are part of the event schedule.
