Event Overview
The Pedal to the Medal 5K & Fishing Derby takes place at Gross Lake in Wooster, Ohio. This multi-sport event combines traditional running and walking distances with a fishing competition held on the same day. Participants can choose between different physical activities or engage in the recreational fishing derby.
Race Options and Activities
The event features several organized activities for participants:
- 5K Run/Walk: A timed 3.11 mile course.
- Fun Walk: A 1 mile non-timed walking event.
- Fishing Derby: A one-hour fishing competition held at the lake.
Participants who register for the 5K or the Fun Walk by September 26th are guaranteed an event t-shirt. Following the conclusion of the activities, a chicken BBQ dinner is available by donation.

The 5K race includes prizes for the overall male and female winners. Additional awards are presented to the first, second, and third-place finishers in various age categories, ranging from 10 and under to 60 and over.
