Peaks of Otter Christmas Classic 5k
The Peaks of Otter Christmas Classic 5k takes place in Bedford, Virginia on Saturday, December 6 and Sunday, December 7, 2025. The event includes the following distances and options:
- 5K (in person)
- 1 Mile "Peaks Junior" (in person) for ages 1-12
- Virtual 5K
- 1 Mile "Peaks Junior" (virtual)
Race headquarters and the start/finish are at Bedford Baptist Church, 1516 Oakwood St., Bedford, VA 24523. The 5K follows a local Bedford loop that proceeds onto Oakwood St., Longwood Ave., Hampton Ridge, Locust St., Elm St., Old Bedford Middle School parking lot, Peaks St., Witfield Dr., and returns to Bedford Baptist Church.
Logistics, awards and charity
Packet pickup is offered on Thursday and Friday at the Bedford Area Family YMCA (1111 Turnpike Rd.) and on Saturday at Bedford Baptist Church; someone else may pick up a packet for a registrant. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrants by November 17; thereafter shirts are available at packet pickup on a first-come basis. The event is chip timed using disposable MyLaps race bib technology.
Awards include top overall and masters placements, top finishers by age group, and custom medals for age groups. A team competition requires a minimum of five members; the corporate cup is awarded to the team with the lowest cumulative time. One hundred percent of proceeds support scholarships for low and fixed-income families, seniors, and individuals to join the YMCA’s Health & Wellness and Childcare programs.
