Peak to Pub
Peak to Pub is a multisport event that runs from the summit of Mt Hutt to the Blue Pub in Methven. The course is staged in three parts and covers mountain terrain, farm tracks and road sections. The event includes a mass start on the slopes of Mt Hutt and finishes at the Blue Pub in Methven where an awards presentation is held.
- 2 km ski/board from Mt Hutt summit to the ski to ride transition.
- 18 km mountain bike on the Mt Hutt access road to the Crossroads.
- 12 km run from the Crossroads to the Blue Pub Methven with road, trail and river sections.
The ski section requires a minimum intermediate skiing or boarding ability and follows a Giant Slalom style course through gates. Helmets are mandatory for the ski section. The bike section runs mostly on a dirt access road; helmets and disc brakes are mandatory and riders are expected to be capable mountain bikers. The run section includes road, trail and water crossings and offers an 8 metre swim option or a road bridge crossing at the river.
Entries include two lift rides and there is an optional half day ski pass for competitors. Entry fees are listed for individuals and teams with early and late rates, and there is a contingency day if the race cannot be held on the scheduled day. Transponders must be worn on the ankle and returned at the finish. Minimum competitor age information and category lists are specified by the organiser.
