Inverary Station : Canterbury Winter Trail Run Series
Event 4, the final race in the 2026 series, takes place at Inverary Station near Mount Somers on 9th August 2026. The venue is about 15 minutes west of Mount Somers Village at the base of the Moorhouse and Peter Ranges. The courses run through rocky trails, open tussock and matagouri country and include multiple creek crossings on the longer routes. Long climbs provide views of the surrounding ranges, Mount Somers, and across to the Ashburton Lakes. Weather may affect the exact course.
Course options and elevations are:
- Slope Sprint 6.3 km, 210 m elevation
- Midi Mountains 10 km, 360 m elevation
- Epic Endurance 19.7 km, 670 m elevation
Each course has a published compulsory gear list. Common mandatory items include a waterproof jacket with hood, a charged mobile phone, any personal medication, and a suitable pack to carry required items. Midi and Epic require thermal clothing, energy nutrition and a minimum water capacity. Epic requires an emergency survival bag. Organisers may perform random gear checks and may reduce or reinstate requirements depending on the forecast; changes are advised by pre-race email or briefing. Aid stations are provided for the Midi and Epic courses with water and electrolyte drink; no disposable cups are supplied. Food will be available for purchase from a fundraising group for cash only. The event village is at Quarry Road, Surrey Hills on private land and may be visited only on race day. No prizegiving takes place on the day; spot prizes are awarded at the finish and series prizes follow a separate prizegiving in late August.
