Inverary Station - Canterbury Winter Trail Run Series
Inverary Station is Event 4 and the final event in the 2026 Canterbury Winter Trail Run Series. The venue is near Mount Somers, about 15 minutes west of Mount Somers Village at the base of the Moorhouse and Peter Ranges.
The routes run through high-country terrain with rocky single track, open tussock and matagouri country, and multiple creek crossings on the longer courses. Long climbs reach plateaus and ridgelines with views across the surrounding ranges, Mount Somers, and the Ashburton Lakes. Course markings on the day take precedence over GPS tracks.
Distances and elevation options:
- Slope Sprint: 6.3 km, 210 m elevation
- Midi Mountains: 10 km, 360 m elevation
- Epic Endurance: 19.7 km, 670 m elevation
Compulsory gear varies by course. Examples include a fully waterproof jacket, mobile phone, thermal layers, suitable pack or vest, personal medication, and minimum water volumes (Slope Sprint recommended 500 ml; Midi minimum 500 ml; Epic minimum 1 litre). The Epic course requires an emergency survival bag. Recommended items include emergency foil, thermal gloves, and a small first aid kit for longer courses. Participants may be subject to random gear checks and can be withdrawn for missing required gear.
Aid stations are provided on the Midi and Epic courses and offer electrolyte drink and plain water; no disposable cups are supplied. The event village is at Quarry Road, Surrey Hills on private land and food will be available for purchase on the day for cash payment. Spot prizes are awarded at random on event days; series prizes are given after the season. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
