Peak Raid Great Longstone
Peak Raid Great Longstone is a score fell race held around Longstone Edge in Derbyshire. This event follows a score format, allowing participants to choose their own route and determine their own pace. The primary objective is to visit various control points and accumulate as many points as possible within a strict 2 hour time limit. Points are deducted for any finishers who exceed this timeframe.
The event starts at The Crispin Inn in Great Longstone. Competitors receive a waterproof competition map at the start, which includes control descriptions and the point values for each location. Electronic SI Timing is used to record progress at each control point.
Participants can enter the event as solo runners or in pairs. The minimum age for entry is 14 years old. For pairs including a runner under the age of 18, the second runner must be a parent or guardian over the age of 21. There are 15 distinct categories based on gender and age, ranging from Senior to Veteran 70.
As a fell race, specific safety equipment is mandatory. Runners must carry a waterproof whole-body cover with taped seams and an integrated hood, a hat, gloves, a compass, a whistle, and emergency food. The provided map must also be carried throughout the race. This event supports the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
