Path To Opioid Prevention

Path To Opioid Prevention is a community road and trail running event that raises awareness of opioid alternatives and broader substance misuse prevention, including underage drinking and vaping. The event offers two race distances and uses portions of the Weber River Parkway and local streets through Riverdale, South Ogden, Uintah and Washington Terrace.

The half marathon route begins in Uintah on streets for the first three miles and continues primarily on the Weber River Parkway trails, passing Fort Buenaventura before returning to the finish at the Riverdale City offices. The 5K starts and finishes at the Riverdale City offices, follows the Weber River Drive and trail south to a footbridge, then returns on the same route. The trail sections contain foliage that provides shade.

Logistics noted by the organizer include a shuttle from Riverdale City offices to the half marathon start in Uintah, packet pickup on August 20 and August 21 at Uintah City Hall, and no day-of registration. Spectator locations suggested for the half marathon include Riverdale City offices, the Parker Drive water station, and the south end of Fort Buenaventura. Volunteers support the event and participants receive event swag bags.
