About the race
The Paparoa Ultra is a trail running event held on 20 March 2027 on the Paparoa Track in New Zealand. The event base is listed as Smoke-Ho Carpark, 7804 Blackball, and the weekend is described as a community-driven trail running program based in Punakaiki.
Two race options are offered:
- 55 km full-length Paparoa Ultra on the Paparoa Track, limited to 200 competitors.
- 1.5 km Kids Fun Run, limited to 50 competitors.
The 55 km race covers native forest, alpine tops, swing bridges, and limestone cliffs along a Great Walk route. The course is remote and mostly self-supported with limited on-course aid; organisers describe it as intended for experienced runners who can manage in unpredictable backcountry conditions.
