Event Information
The Pajarito Mountain Run is a trail running event scheduled for Saturday, August 22, 2026. It takes place at Pajarito Mountain near Los Alamos, New Mexico.
Course and Route
The race begins and ends near the Pajarito Lodge. The course makes a 3.25 mile ascent to the summit of Pajarito Mountain, reaching over 10,200 feet in elevation with 1,350 feet of total ascent. It then descends via the "Aspen For Trouble" trail.
The route starts with a mile on the Lower Aspenola Trail singletrack, followed by a 2.25 mile ascent on a service road. After a summit aid station, the descent begins on the Aspen For Trouble singletrack, with a short section on service road before returning to singletrack for the finish. The course will be marked with yellow flagging and directional signs. There are no cut-off times, so hikers are welcome. The organizer notes the route is slightly short of a standard 10K distance.
Logistics
Packet pick-up is on race morning from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM at the Pajarito Lodge deck by the start/finish arch. The race starts at 9:00 AM. A summit aid station, primarily for water, is located roughly 3 miles into the course. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water vessel to minimize waste.
The event focuses on trail stewardship, conducting maintenance before the event and cleaning the course afterwards. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
