About the race
Pajarito Mountain Run on August 22, 2026 is a trail race held at Pajarito Mountain and in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The advertised distance is 10K, though the course is noted to be slightly short of a full 10 kilometers. The route starts and finishes near the Pajarito Lodge and ascends roughly 3.25 miles to the summit before returning on a descending singletrack called Aspen For Trouble.
The course reaches over 10,200 feet in elevation and includes approximately 1,350 feet of total ascent. The route begins with about a mile of rolling singletrack on the Lower Aspenola Trail, continues with roughly 2.25 miles of ascent on a service road to a summit aid station about three miles into the race, and then follows singletrack and short service road sections back to the lodge. The course will be marked with yellow flagging, arrows, and other signage at relevant junctions. There are no cutoffs on course and hikers are welcome.
Organizers note active trail stewardship including pre-event maintenance and post-race course sweeping. The summit aid station will provide primarily water and some sports nutrition gels; participants are encouraged to bring their own water vessel to reduce waste. Registration pricing varies by date and a t-shirt sizing deadline is specified. The event is organized by Syllamo Events. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
