Pajarito Mountain Run : basic information
The event is scheduled for August 22, 2026 in Los Alamos, NM at Pajarito Mountain and the Pajarito Lodge. The race is listed as 10K, though the course is described as slightly short of a full 10K. The route tops out at over 10,200 feet and includes about 1,350 feet of ascent.
Course layout
The start and finish are near the Lodge. The route makes a 3.25 mile ascent to the summit before descending on the "Aspen For Trouble" singletrack back to the Lodge. The opening mile is rolling singletrack on the Lower Aspenola Trail, followed by roughly 2.25 miles of ascent on Service Road to the summit aid station. The descent includes Aspen For Trouble singletrack with short sections on Service Road and additional singletrack to the finish. The course will be marked with yellow flagging, arrows, and other directional signage at junctions. There are no course cut offs and hikers are welcome.
Aid, stewardship, and logistics
A summit aid station is located roughly 3 miles into the route and will provide water and some sports nutrition gels. Participants are asked to bring their own water vessel to reduce waste. Organizers conduct trail maintenance before the event and sweep the course after the race to remove trash. Packet pick up is at the Pajarito Lodge on the back deck by the Start/Finish arch.
Registration and fees
Registration opens January 1, 2026. Fees are: Standard $65 (until July 31), Late $75 (August 1-14), Race Day $80 cash only. T-shirt sizing is guaranteed for orders by August 10. Refunds: 50% rollover credit 21 days or more before the event (UltraSignup fees excluded); no refunds or credit less than 21 days before the event.
