Pajarito Mountain Run : Los Alamos, NM
The event is a high alpine trail run held at Pajarito Mountain near Los Alamos, New Mexico. The advertised distance is slightly short of a 10K and the route reaches over 10,200 feet in elevation with about 1,350 feet of total ascent. The course starts and finishes near the Lodge and climbs roughly 3.25 miles to the summit before descending on the Aspen For Trouble singletrack back to the Lodge.
The route begins with about one mile of rolling singletrack on the Lower Aspenola Trail, then continues with roughly 2.25 miles of ascent on a service road to the summit aid station. The descent follows Aspen For Trouble singletrack with a short section on service road and a final short singletrack approach to the finish. The course will be marked with yellow flagging, arrows, and signage at relevant junctions. There are no cutoffs on course and hikers are permitted.
A summit aid station is planned roughly three miles into the route and will offer primarily water plus some sports nutrition gels. Participants are asked to bring their own water vessel to reduce waste. Packet pick up is scheduled on race morning at the Pajarito Lodge on the back deck by the start finish arch.
