The Pajarito Mountain Run is a mountain trail event held at Pajarito Mountain and in the town of Los Alamos. The advertised distance is 10K, though the course is described as slightly short of a full 10K. The route starts and finishes near the Lodge and makes a 3.25 mile ascent to the summit before descending on the Aspen For Trouble singletrack back to the Lodge.
The course reaches over 10,200 feet in elevation and includes approximately 1,350 feet of total ascent. The route begins with about a mile of rolling singletrack on the Lower Aspenola Trail, then follows roughly 2.25 miles of Service Road to the Summit Aid Station. The descent uses Aspen For Trouble singletrack with brief sections on Service Road and a final short singletrack to the finish. The course will be marked with yellow flagging, arrows, and directional signage. There are no cut offs and hikers are welcome.
Summit Aid Station is located about three miles into the route and will offer primarily water plus some sports nutrition gels. Packet pick up is at the Pajarito Lodge back deck. Organizers emphasize trail stewardship, performing maintenance before the event and sweeping the course to minimize waste.
