Pajarito Mountain Run (Los Alamos, NM), Aug 22, 2026
The Pajarito Mountain Run is a high-elevation trail event at Pajarito Mountain and in the town of Los Alamos. The course is described as slightly short of a 10K and reaches a high point above 10,200 feet, with approximately 1,350 feet of total ascent. The route starts and finishes near the lodge and includes a 3.25 mile ascent to the summit before a singletrack descent back toward the lodge.
The opening mile follows rolling singletrack on the Lower Aspenola Trail, then continues with a roughly 2.25 mile climb on Service Road to the summit aid station. The descent uses the Aspen For Trouble singletrack with a short section on Service Road and a final short singletrack into the finish. The course will be marked with yellow flagging, arrows, and other directional signage at junctions. There are no on-course cutoffs; hikers are permitted.
Organizers describe active trail stewardship, including pre-race maintenance and post-race course sweeping to minimize trash and preserve trail conditions. Packet pick up is located on the back deck of the Pajarito Lodge by the Start/Finish arch on race morning. Pricing tiers listed in the event information include standard, late, and race-day fees, and a refund policy provides a 50% rollover credit if requested 21 days or more before the event; no refund or credit is available less than 21 days prior.
