Jemez Mountain Trail Runs
The Jemez Mountain Trail Runs take place in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico, with races starting and finishing in Los Alamos. The event offers the following distances:
- 15 Miler
- 50K
- 50 Miler
Registration opens January 3, 2026. Entry fees are $100 for the 15 mile, $150 for the 50K, and $175 for the 50 mile. A price increase of $25 takes effect on April 1, 2026. Registration closes May 2 at 11:59 PM ET.
The courses are on technical trails with substantial elevation change. The 50K and 50 Mile routes include very steep climbs and descents on technical terrain. Elevations on course range from about 7,000 to over 10,000 feet. Runners may encounter fallen trees and other trail obstacles. Past events have seen a wide range of weather including heat, cold, rain, hail, snow, extreme lightning and high winds. The 50 mile route has followed the same course since 2021 and was approximately 53 miles that year.
A mandatory gear policy is in place so runners can be kept reasonably warm and dry during inclement weather. Race officials set minimum gear requirements before the start and aid station staff assess compliance. Garbage bags are not considered appropriate rain gear.
The event operates as a nonprofit and has donated funds to local organizations and scholarships since 2006. Race entry includes local handmade Jemez pottery, a pre race pasta dinner, a post race New Mexican feast and barbeque with local beers, and a Rabbit technical run tee. A waitlist is maintained and a 50 percent partial refund is available only before May 1 if the registrant's spot can be filled. Starting May 1 all entry fees are nonrefundable and entries cannot be transferred to another person or year. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
