The Jemez Mountain Trail Runs are scheduled for Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Los Alamos, New Mexico. The event includes the following distances:
- 50 mile
- 50K
- 15 mile
The races start and finish in the town of Los Alamos, with a listed location of 650 North Mesa Road. Registration opens January 3, 2026. Entry fees are stated as $100 for the 15 mile, $150 for the 50K, and $175 for the 50 mile, with a $25 price increase on April 1, 2026.
Course, safety and policies
The course runs on technical trails in the Jemez Mountains with substantial elevation change and high altitude between about 7,000 and over 10,000 feet. The 50K and 50 mile courses include extremely steep climbs and descents on very technical terrain, and runners may encounter fallen trees and other obstacles. Since 2021 the 50 mile route has been about 2 miles longer than in previous years.
Race management enforces a mandatory gear policy for inclement weather. Officials may require specific warm and waterproof gear before runners leave the start or drop-bag-accessible aid stations, and aid station staff can enforce gear requirements. Garbage bags are not acceptable as rain gear.
The organizer maintains a waitlist. All entry fees are nonrefundable from May 1, 2025; previously a 50% refund was available only before that date and only if the spot could be filled. No transfers of entry to another person or another year are permitted.
