Jemez Mountain Trail Runs : May 9, 2026
The Jemez Mountain Trail Runs stage three trail races in the Jemez Mountains with start and finish in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Distances offered are:
- 50 mile
- 50k
- 15 mile
Registration for the 2026 event opened January 3, 2026. Entry fees are listed as $100 for the 15 mile, $150 for the 50k, and $175 for the 50 mile, with a $25 price increase scheduled on April 1, 2026. The event maintains a wait list and describes a partial refund policy that allows a 50 percent refund only before May 1 and only if the runner’s spot can be filled; after May 1 entry fees are nonrefundable. No transfers of entry between people or years are permitted.
The course is run on technical trails with substantial elevation change. The 50k and 50 mile routes include very steep climbs and descents and sections of technical terrain. Elevations on course range from about 7,000 to over 10,000 feet, and runners may encounter fallen trees and other obstacles. Past events have seen a wide range of weather including heat, cold, rain, hail, snow, lightning, and wind.
Organizers enforce a mandatory gear policy in inclement weather; aid station staff and race management may require specific clothing and equipment for safety and may pull runners who lack necessary gear. The event is conducted by a nonprofit organization and directs proceeds to local organizations and scholarships. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
