8th Annual Paddle Run/Walk 4 CureHHT
The Paddle Run/Walk 4 CureHHT is a multi-sport charity event held in Gibraltar, Michigan. Based at Captain Jim’s Marina & Bar, the event proceeds support research and awareness for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT). The competition features a variety of aquatic and land-based distances:
- 1.8 Mile (approx. 2.8k) Kayak or Stand-up Paddle Board
- 5k Run/Walk
- Kayak/SUP and Run combined event
- 1 Mile Run/Walk
The paddle portion takes place on the Lake Erie waterfront and through canal-front residential areas, circling the main island of Gibraltar. The route generally takes participants about 30 minutes to complete. For the combined event, kayakers launch individually and begin the 5k run or walk immediately after finishing their time on the water.
Participants in the kayak or paddle board events must wear or carry a lifejacket at all times. While a limited number of kayaks are available for use, participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment. The event concludes with announcements and results. Food and drinks are available for purchase on-site at the marina following the races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
