Event Overview
This event supports fundraising to find a cure for Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia (HHT), also known as Osler-Weber-Rendu Syndrome. HHT is an inherited disease that can lead to serious health issues.
Events and Format
Participants can choose from three separate events:
- A 1.8-mile Kayak or Stand-up Paddle Board (SUP) tour.
- A 5k Run/Walk.
- A combined Kayak/SUP AND Run event.
The paddle portion is described as a picturesque tour circling the main island of Gibraltar, passing Lake Erie waterfront and canal-front residential areas. For the combined event, participants launch their kayak or SUP one at a time and begin the 5k run/walk after completing the paddle. Lifejackets are required during the kayak portion.
Location and Logistics
The event takes place at Captain Jim’s Marina & Bar in Gibraltar, Michigan. There are a limited number of kayaks available for participant use. Drinks and food are available for purchase at the marina after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
